Our NEW Vintage Embossed Horsehide Belt is special in so many ways. Although we have made variations of this, we have never hand-stained, embossed and stone-washed a belt.

We start with Horween® horsehide vegetable tanned leather in a stout 8/9oz. Each belt strip is cut to 1-½" wide then embossed with a vintage (60-70 years old, rebuilt roller press. The two plates we are using for this first edition are also vintage plates from the 1970's. The first is a SAN FRANCISCO pattern with the Golden Gate Bridge and the famous Trolley Car. The second pattern is a An American Eagle pattern (also from the 1970's) with the wings spanned out with great details. We then bevel the edges, hand stain the belt a light tan color and attach a solid-brass buckle that we import from Italy. The belts are then stone-washed them in Los Angeles and brought back for oiling and dressing. They are genuine vintage pieces that you will not find anywhere else.

Introduced exclusively for Holiday 2022, we are making less than (50) in each style belt. Orders ship by December 8, 2022.

    HORWEEN® LEATHER | Since 1905
    Horsehide Strips

Horween Leather Company has been tanning leather in Chicago, IL for more than 100-years (Since 1905). They are a five generation, family run company that we are proud to be working with. They are true artisans of their craft and recognized world-wide as one of the premier tanners of leathers like horsehide, shell cordovan, football leather, basketball & baseball leather and more. Today, their leathers are still made by hand, the same way as generations ago.

Horween® Horsehide "strips" are the section of the hide that sits directly above the "Shell" or butt of the horse. These strips are tanned alongside Horween’s Cordovan for the first 45 days using a slow and gentle veg tan / hot stuffed process to create a very dense leather. The horizontal "strip" runs against the natural grain and has minimal stretch, making it ideal for straps and belts. It's a full vegetable tanned leather in a stout 8-9oz. leather that is ultra strong and naturally smooth. It's an "old-school" style leather that is firm and and smooth with an extremely tight grain that does not allow for much stretch. It's ideal for belts, straps and small leather goods.
