The word "Latigo" translates to the word "Whip" in Spanish, and was originally developed for leather equestrian products like straps, reins, whips and more. In our Executive Latigo Belt, we use a Horween® latigo in a full 8-9oz. weight. The cowhide leather is durable, pliable and infused with extra oils and waxes which makes It more resistant to moisture and sweat. For these reasons, our Horween® latigo is an ideal leather for belts.

The design is a slightly narrower for us, at 1-3/8" wide. We cut the tip with a tapered square end to make it more refined and we stitch an Italian made, solid-brass buckle and matching keeper instead of Chicago screws. This is our version of a "casual dress belt" that is perfect for chinos, casual slacks or jeans. A versatile belt that can be worn with almost any outfit.

  • Our Horween® Latigo leather has been used for our straps and belts for the last decade or more. It is an 8-9oz. cowhide leather tanned in Chicago, Illinois at the Horween® tannery.

Latigo translates to the word "Whip" in Spanish, and was really developed for leather equestrian products like straps, reins, whips and more. Because it is both durable and pliable, it's an ideal leather for belts in particular. Our Horween® latigo is infused with extra oils and waxes which makes It more resistant to moisture and sweat.  As a result of this oil infusion, and the process of partial chrome tanning and partial vegetable tanning, latigo is more rigid than full chrome-tanned leather but less rigid than vegetable tanned leather.
