HORWEEN® HORSEHIDE LEATHER 8/9oz. | Premium Belting Leather
Tanned in Chicago since 1905, Horween® is a premium leather. The horsehide used in our belts come from the "strip" section of the hide that sits directly above the "Shell" or butt of the horse. The horizontal "strip" runs against the natural grain and has minimal stretch, making it ideal for straps and belts. It's a full vegetable tanned leather in a stout 8-9oz. leather that is ultra strong and naturally smooth.
COLORS & DETAILS
Choose from three color options, all equally nice and uniquely different. The "Natural" is the un-stained and will naturally darken to a golden tan color with use. You can add neatsfoot oil to the belt as needed to darken and soften. The other two colors are " Whiskey" and "Brown". Both are skillfully and artistically hand-stained, beveled and polished. The solid-brass buckle is attached with Chicago screws and sourced from an Italian hardware manufacturer in Florence, Italy. All 100% cut & finished in the USA.

    HORWEEN® LEATHER | Since 1905
    Horsehide Strips

Horween Leather Company has been tanning leather in Chicago, IL for more than 100-years (Since 1905). They are a five generation, family run company that we are proud to be working with. They are true artisans of their craft and recognized world-wide as one of the premier tanners of leathers like horsehide, shell cordovan, football leather, basketball & baseball leather and more. Today, their leathers are still made by hand, the same way as generations ago.

Horween® Horsehide "strips" are the section of the hide that sits directly above the "Shell" or butt of the horse. These strips are tanned alongside Horween’s Cordovan for the first 45 days using a slow and gentle veg tan / hot stuffed process to create a very dense leather. The horizontal "strip" runs against the natural grain and has minimal stretch, making it ideal for straps and belts. It's a full vegetable tanned leather in a stout 8-9oz. leather that is ultra strong and naturally smooth. It's an "old-school" style leather that is firm and and smooth with an extremely tight grain that does not allow for much stretch. It's ideal for belts, straps and small leather goods.
