This is what an American handmade belt should be. Classic, handsome, comfortable and durable. The No.149 Tapered Vaquero belt checks all those boxes in an exclusive design, tip and buckle.

We started with the shape/taper of the belt, which was not as simple as it appears. The base of the belt is 1-1/2" wide through the center and sides, but an ever so subtle taper that is almost not noticeable brings the tip and base down to 1-1/4". This softer taper gives the belt more versatility to be worn casual or more "Western". The tip end is also longer than our other belts and has a total of (7) holes for more adjustability. We line the belt with a lighter weight (4oz.) nubuck backing, sewn to the top leather with a finer, tighter stitch count to give the belt a more refined appearance. We finish the belt with a classic rounded heel bar buckle that can be worn without almost anything. The buckle is a natural (non-polished) solid-brass that we import from Italy. Expect the finish to antique "PATINA" to a darker brass over time, but you can polish back if you prefer with brass polishing cream. The buckle is hand-set with two solid-brass bull rivets, edge polished, stained and waxed all by hand. The entirety of the belt is truly handmade with passion, experience and care all 100% in our San Diego, California factory.

Genuine US Tanned "Shrunken" Bison | Walnut
The face of this Vaquero is made from genuine American Bison leather, tanned in Milwaukee, WI in our signature "Shrunken" tannage. The hides are a unique chrome/vegetable re-tanned from bison hides that originated in North America. The leather goes through a complex tanning process that shrinks the hide to enhance the already bold natural grain of bison. Each hide has its own, 100% unique grain pattern much like our fingerprints. They are lightly waxed prior to applying a "hot chromed mirror plate" to give them a rich glossy sheen.
100% Designed, Cut & Sewn In USA
The double-layered belt is cut and hand-crafted entirely in our San Diego factory. The belt is polished, beveled and burnished to a smooth edge, all 100% by hand in our San Diego factory.

SOLID BRASS | Italian Made Buckle
Hardware is one of the elements that sets good products apart from the great products. We use great hardware on all of our products and the No.149 Vaquero is no different. The buckle used in the Americana Vaquero is a classic, rounded heel-bar style. This is a solid brass buckle in a natural, non-lacquered finish. It will patina faster than our other "polished and lacquered" brass buckles. The natural brass will naturally "antique" but can be polished back with brass cleaning wipes or creams. This is a premium, solid brass buckle that is 100% made in Italy.

How To Place A “Reserve Order” | Message In The CHAT
This is a product that we make year-round and in most cases can be ordered for you with a RESERVE ORDER when SOLD-OUT. A “Reserve Order” is similar to a “HOLD”. We simply require a 10% Deposit to place the order for you. It can be cancelled and refunded at any time and you can return the un-used product within 30-days. The Reserve Order helps us to determine what we have committed and what needs to go into our production. We don’t build it on demand, but it expedites the next production run for that product. This belt was proudly designed and built in our own San Diego, California leather shop. Each style is constructed in its unique process that is executed mostly by hand. All edges are burnished and polished and several styles are hand-stained one by one, the way belts used to be made. We finish them with premium made solid-brass buckles, mostly imported from Italy to create a true artisan crafted belt, 100% designed and built in the USA.

We love building products a lot more than repairing them! That’s why we design and build them to last. We want the product to give you a lifetime of use, but if they fail due to a manufacturing defect, we will repair the product or replace it at little or no charge for the life of the item.

Belts are sized differently in Europe than in America. We use a traditional American belt sizing scale. Our size will measure from the end of the leather where it folds around the buckle, to the middle hole (usually there are 5 holes) and 1" added. So as an example, a size 38 belt would measure 39" to the center hole to the back of the leather when flat.

HOW TO MEASURE FOR YOUR SIZE
The most accurate way to determine your belt size is to thread a flexible tape measure through the belt loops of your pants (as you would with a belt) and mark the spot where the tape reaches exactly one time around your hip. Pick the belt size which is closest to your hip circumference. Remember to put on a pair of pants that fits you well and represents what you plan to wear. Note that the thickness of the pants material can influence the measurements. We recommend having the belt hit the 2nd or 3rd hole from the tip on day one. This will allow for some stretch in the belt over time.

MEASURE ONE OF YOUR EXISTING BELTS
You can also get your belt size with your current belt even if it does not fit perfectly: simply use a measuring tape or ruler to measure the length from the end of the leather, before the buckle to the center hole on your belt or the hole that fits you most comfortably - it will likely be the spot to show the most wear and tear.

SIZE UP FROM YOUR JEANS
The other option would be to size up 2 inches from your jean size. So if you were a size 36 in most jeans you would order a 38 belt.
