Our "Exclusive" Chicago Mail Bag in black Horween Chromexcel & Shell Cordovan trim. Inspired by the US Postal Bags used in the 1960's with some modern-day upgrades, the Chicago Mail Bag is a practical and functional business briefcase or messenger. We squared up the flap for a better visual appearance, we added some leather internal panels for organization and incorporated our favorite heavy-duty brass swivels (Made In Italy) on the flap that is lockable with a slight roll of the finger.
The best part of our Mail Bag No. 721 is the leather; the base is Horween® Chromexcel smartly accented with genuine Horween Shell Cordovan. A unique detail that sets this bag apart from any other modern-day version is that we finish it with very cool, functional and substantial Italian made locking swivels and other solid brass hardware. Tanned in Chicago since the early 1900's, Chromexcel is a classic "Pull-Up" leather with a with a smooth, sleek surface and an unbelievable feel and "leather smell". Chromexcel is the original pull-up leather; using time honored techniques and formulas that were developed nearly 100 years ago. Chromexcel is still produced in the the world-renown Horween tannery in Chicago, using a bark retannage from a proprietary recipe, and then genuine hot stuffed with a blend of natural oils and greases. Chromexcel is characterized by a rich pull-up in full aniline, hand rubbed finishes. Made to this day with old world craftsmanship, modern Chromexcel carries on a long history of superior comfort and durability.
