Our No.721 Chicago Mail Bag is an exclusive design that dates back to 2010 when the first version was made. The inspiration comes from the vintage Swiss military bags used in the 1920's-40s. It is 100% leather made without any synthetic fabrics or linings. With a fully leather-lined interior, utility pockets, a leather laptop pocket and even 100% leather internal binding this is a bag truly built for life. The NEW 2025 version has newly reinforced and double-layered front and back rings and the steel back rod. You could easily carry 100lbs and the handles and D-rings will stay in place.

Other details include solid-copper, vintage style rivets that are completely set by hand, solid-brass roller clips that are made and imported from Italy, a 9oz. leather removable strap and pad and Horween® shell cordovan trim and accent pieces.

LIMITED EDITION | Horween® Chromexcel® & Shell x15 Made August 2025
This is the new 2025 version made with some new design and construction improvements. It is made in our San Diego factory from two of Horweens® most recognized leathers. Horween® Chromexcel® and their genuine Shell Cordovan. The polished shell cordovan (Horsehide) is used on select accents while main body is cut from Chromexcel®.

This product is a Limited Edition release with only x15 Made in August 2025.

Limited Edition items are not always available. Our production runs for Limited Edition products are generally from 5-20 units, so they are quite small and very special. In most cases they are exclusively available on our website unless otherwise noted.

Made In The USA

This product was proudly designed, cut and sewn in our San Diego, California leather shop. It has been built entirely by our employees 100% (start to finish), in our own factory. We don’t “partially assemble” our products in another country then label them MADE IN USA. In respect to all the American manufacturers over the last century, we do it the right way, honest and true American manufacturing.

Chromexcel ® is one of Horween’s original and most popular leathers. For decades tanneries have tried to replicate the look and feel of genuine Horween® Chromexcel®, without success.

For over 90 years, Horween® Leather Company has used the same artisanal hot-stuffing formula to infuse these leathers with an oil and wax blend to create an extremely rich and durable leather, which is then hand-stained. This heritage leather features the natural leather grain, exhibits a rich pull-up, and retains softness and color for generations.

As true artisans of their craft, they are recognized world-wide as one of the premier tanners of leathers like horsehide, shell cordovan, NFL® football leather, basketball & baseball leathers and much more.

We love building products a lot more than repairing them! That’s why we design and build them to last. We want the product to give you a lifetime of use, but if they fail due to a manufacturing defect, we will repair the product or replace it at little or no charge for the life of the item.

Beautiful Mail Bag.

"I just received this Chicago Mail Bag today; June 4th, 2021. The Leather is smooth, stiff and flexible all at the same time. The black finish is beautifully smooth, with a high luster, and it looks great with the solid brass hardware. The construction, fit and finish is typical Coronado Leather: excellent! This bag seems roomy enough to use as a messenger bag, briefcase, tool bag or a file folder that will hold quite a bit. The leather is Horween's excellent CXL (Chromexcel) and their strong Latigo harness leather for the straps. It will take a lot to hurt this bag, so even with minimal care this bag should last longer than me easily. I am glad I purchased this bag, and so will you!"
