This product is a Seasonal or Limited Edition item that is not always available. Our production runs for Limited Edition products are generally from 5-20 units, so they are quite small and very special. In most cases they are exclusively available on our website unless otherwise noted.

This product was proudly designed, cut and sewn in our San Diego, California leather shop. It has been built entirely by our employees 100% (start to finish), in our own factory.  We don’t “partially assemble” our products in another country then label them MADE IN USA. In respect to all the American manufacturers over the last century, we do it the right way, honest and true American manufacturing.

Horween® Chicago Chromexcel Horsehide(USA)

Horween Chicago Chromexcel® Horsehide is a rare and not widely distributed leather. This unique tannage has been run by Horween® periodically for decades but is new to us. It's a very lightweight leather due to the thickness and tanning characteristics, but extremely durable being a full-grain horsehide leather. 

The front-quarter horsehide starts out with a Chromexcel base, which is vegetable re-tanned and hot stuffed with Horween® tanning liquors. The flesh side is finished and the grain side is smooth and untouched. Horween® hand dyes and glazes the horsehide to provide a tight flesh and fine luster. A unique and durable tannage that is near waterproof, looks fantastic and functions exceptionally luggage. Because of the flesh side finishing, we use both sides of the leather to give the products a unique look and feel. The leather has a firm temper at first, but will soften a bit as the waxes break down over time. 

We love building products a lot more than repairing them!  That’s why we design and build them to last. We want the product to give you a lifetime of use, but if they fail due to a manufacturing defect, we will repair the product or replace it at little or no charge for the life of the item.
