The No.970 CO Executive Briefcase is a full size briefcase wide enough for executive legal files/folders, at 17" wide. The original No.970 was a custom project made for a Naval CO (Commanding Officer) in Coronado, CA. A bold and highly functional briefcase that is meticulously handcrafted in our San Diego factory, the No.970 is an heirloom quality piece that is American designed, tanned and built.

A true executive sized briefcase built with meticulous details, function and durability. The interior is split with suede leather lining under the flap and the back laptop sleeve and our 8oz. cotton tan lining in the front pockets. Wide enough to fit legal files and up to a 17" laptop, the No.970 is our largest briefcase by width and height, but with a slimmer profile. Use the removable leather shoulder strap or the top carry handle that is leather wrapped and riveted down to a steel bar for maximum durability and longevity. The entire flap and body is bound with the same Horween® Americana leather, we use premium solid-brass Italian made hardware, hand stain the edges and set the brass rivets by hand, all in our San Diego leather factory. Other features include inside leather utility pockets, a 6" brass zipper and a brass swivel on a leather lanyard.
The No.970 is made in micro-batch quantities of less than (20) pieces and marked with a unique 9-digit serial number.

Horween® Americana Tan Steerhide | Tanned In Chicago Since 1905
This version is crafted from Horween® Americana leather, a natural, 100% vegetable tanned leather. The tannage uses Horween's old-fashioned, time proven Shell Cordovan tanning liquors and natural tannins such as organic tree bark. This product was proudly designed, cut and sewn in our San Diego, California leather shop. It has been built entirely by our employees 100% (start to finish), in our own factory. We don’t “partially assemble” our products in another country then label them MADE IN USA. In respect to all the American manufacturers over the last century, we do it the right way, honest and true American manufacturing.

The Leather

Our Horween® Americana leather is a natural, 100% vegetable tanned steerhide tanned in Chicago, Illinois. The tannage uses Horween's old-fashioned, time proven Shell Cordovan tanning liquors. A blend of fats, oils, natural waxes and greases are tanned into the leather giving the hides a durability, softness and a rich round feel. The hides are finished with a "hot-plating" to give them a smoother surface, a rich lustre and a light sheen. You will notice a slight "pull-up" effect with light undertones and a wonderful "leather" smell. The "temper" is slightly firm, making it ideally suited for luggage and cases.

Our Americana Leather is a true "Artisan" tanned leather made from domestic US hides and tanned, start to finish, in the USA since 1905.
