"This is my seventh purchase from Coronado Leather and my fifth duffel (Americana, Black 007 Austin CXL, Baseball, Bison 105 (currently on order) and Bison Austin 007). Holy mackerel- this thing rocks! It’s hard to rank these great bags and leathers. Each has its own unique characteristics and everyone has a different set of needs and expectations. Shrunken bison is very different from steerhide. It’s more supple than I expected. The shrunken grain is tight in my example, but it varies within each animal and between animals which is pretty cool. You can get a wide range of textures and tanning variability from tans to browns. There are great natural skin wrinkles in my Austin duffel which gives this bag a lot of character. The smell is intoxicating. I have to say I like the bison leather the best and that’s really saying something. I think it’s going to hold up great and seems more resistant to scratching than CXL (but let’s face it all leather will scratch and patina. That’s what makes it cool). This shrunken bison leather is pretty amazing. Great suppleness. Nice weight- thick leather. The Latigo straps are very sturdy, but also buttery soft. The design of this bag is perfect for a couple of days away or perhaps more if you pack light. I had a minor issue when mine arrived and I contacted Coronado for assistance. They were extremely helpful and resolved my issue expediently and completely. They really stood behind their product. It’s pretty refreshing to get that kind of customer service. I had such a great experience that I placed a custom order for another shrunken bison leather item with them a few days later."
