Our Black Bison Portfolio Planner No. 216 was designed as an alternative or companion to your everyday briefcase. When you need to slim-down for the day or simply work from home, our No.216 is near perfect.
Each Portfolio is cut from the larger grain pattern on the "shoulder" of the bison hide. We trim each hide at the shoulder/neck area to maintain better grain consistency. This section of the hide is small but has the largest, boldest grain that resembles an exotic hide. We finish the inside and spine with firmer, smooth Horween® latigo. Both leathers are tanned and finished in the USA, along with the portfolio and the two inserts, making this almost 100% American built. The are individually embossed and logged with a unique serial# and edge finished by hand.
The Black Bison leather has a spectacular grain pattern with a rich luster that you won't find anywhere else. Seasonal, Limited Edition Portfolio that is made in our California leather shop. Each embossed with the style# and a unique 9-digit serial number.
The Portfolio No. 216 will include an Insert Made in USA from the APPOINTED brand.

Designed & Built In USA - Our "Shrunken" American Bison is a complex and unique leather that has many characteristics of an "exotic" leather. The hides are a full 6-8oz. chrome with a vegetable re-tannange to give the hides a bit more body. They are tanned in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (USA) from bison hides that originated in North America. The leather goes through a complex tanning process that shrinks the hide to enhance the already bold natural grain of bison. The hides are sprayed with a wax prior to applying a touch on a "hot chromed mirror plate" to give them a unique, glassy sheen. The pebbled grain is not compromised and is 100% natural.
The finish of the leather has a subtle but sleek sheen with a two-toned "tipping" effect. In our classic "Walnut" color you will see browns & tans all in the same hide. It is a full 6-8oz. in weight and like most bison leathers, extremely durable and tanned and finished in the USA.

Premium Leathers & APPOINTED Brand Inserts
- The CLC Leather Portfolio Sets were designed as an alternative to your briefcase when on the go, off to the coffee shop or simply working from home. Each Portfolio will include an insert from "Appointed" brand of Washington, DC. Like all of our Portfolio's the Appointed inserts are all Made In USA from premium paper and classic designs.
- We worked for close to a year to ensure that the designs were functional and well built. The features will vary based on the design, but most will have a brass zipper pocket, pen or ruler loops, miscellaneous compartments and well thought-out closures. We will use our signature leathers (American Bison, Horween Steerhide & Shell Cordovan) and finish them with Italian and American made hardware.
- Each portfolio is made in our San Diego, California shop and will be Individually marked with a unique 11-digit serial number to validate the authenticity and the time of production.
